AMAZZONE: THE STORY OF A MUST-HAVE ITEM
AMAZZONE is a bag with a strong, yet highly feminine personality rooted in the brand’s historic archives, and is the result of a reinterpretation of a cult model from the past.
The concepts around each variation developed are multi-functionality, versatility and practicality. Each choice of material, detail and colour is dictated by the desire to transform a single bag into many bags, with multiple personalities: AMAZZONE is classic in the nappa-leather, youthful dressed in pony skin, unconventional in the animal-print, super-chic in ostrich-print leather and aggressive with gold or bronze embellished studs chosen this season to interpret the rock-chic mood to perfection.
A distinctive element that lends character to the bag is the presence of large side zips that not only increase its capacity, thanks to the interior expandable pockets, but also conceal unexpected constructive and creative solutions: inserts in contrasting colours and materials.
MINI & MAXI BAGS
The season’s fashion speaks to us of a dynamic, elegant, refined lady who loves a vaguely retro style made of precious details.
The bag is an essential accessory: it has sober lines, is always chic and is preferably carried in the hand.
Maxi bags designed for working girls and mini bags in perfect ladylike style. To be used day and night, combined with the most special outfits. To be carried together or one “dangling” from the other like a curious maxi-charm. And, always, with an original twist.
Furla has developed some of its iconic seasonal lines in mini & maxi versions: alongside the classic St. Germain handbag of somewhat retro taste is the mini version in the same colour variations and made from the same materials (nappa, leather, crocodile and ostrich-print leather, pony skin and suede).
The Candy line, now a Furla must, has also been developed in the two sizes. The classic rectangular rubber bag, proposed in new tones, is joined by the new, small Candy, a mini-bag to be carried in the hand or worn with a strap in a wealth of sparkling colors.
In the Philippines, Furla is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Greenbelt 5, Rustan’s Makati, and Shangri-La Plaza Mall.

Congratulations Josie Natori and Rustan’s! Heart2Heart is inspired by another Filipino woman - strong, courageous, independent, hardworking - who makes us proud! Josie said that she went into business because she believes that it is important for a woman to be independent and not rely on their husband to support her. Never depend on a man. She said that you should never apologize for spending because you work hard to earn for yourself. Spend for yourself. I value that because that was what my grandmother, Gliceria Tantoco, told me
“What I have tried to do is listen closely to the music of women as I can. I respond to it by instinct. I play by ear. I see by feeling. Both the strength and the vulnerability of Natori draw on the source of my upbringing. East meets West.” – Josie Natori
Exemplifying her mantra that there are no boundaries, Josie Cruz Natori, founder and CEO of the Natori Company has crossed continents, navigated varying careers and surmounted countless obstacles to create a global brand, Natori.
With a keen eye for art, she has brought her namesake label to the international market – bringing forth an established Natori lifestyle from couture, ready-to-wear collection, lingerie, loungewear, sleepwear, swimwear, home, fragrance, and eyewear.
Josie was proud to say that she has never had a facelift in 64 years! Wow! She looks the same when I met her almost 20 years ago
Josie and Tita Nedy’s goal is to dress up the Philippines and dress up more Filipino women. Prices are 10% lower than USA prices so that is an additional incentive to shop here
Josie is expanding her line to many other things other than fashion ready to wear. She will also have home items. She said that she wants to offer things that make a woman feel good!
With a multitude of exclusive international brands under their wing, Rustan’s welcomes Natori to Manila with its first ever boutique to open outside of the United States. Natori finally comes home bringing with her the signature Asian aesthetic that has made the brand distinct, melding the visual appeals of both the East and the West. “Rustan’s mission is to continue to bring home world-class labels to the Filipinos, and with a brand like Natori pioneered by a homegrown talent, this gives us pride to announce its opening” shares Rustan Commercial Corporation President Zenaida Tantoco.
Rustan’s open’s Natori’s door to Filipino Style savants with its latest Fall 2011 collection. These new designs focus on the Bushido: The Way of the Warrior and explores the art and spirit of the Samurai. It is shown through her reworked traditional kimonos and origami shapes and sensual fabrics and textures. Vivid colors, bold prints and intricate embroideries adorn the collection reminiscent of an honored culture and are also a celebration of the spiritual discipline of the samurai and the ceremony of Japanese heritage.
With their continued expansion, Natori continues to share her creations that carry her signature prints and timeless sensual silhouettes. Setting new standards in color, fabric and silhouette, her collections remain glamorous and at the same time comfortable.
Armed with the challenge to innovate constantly, Josie Natori has taken her talent to the next level and carries on the challenge of producing designs that cater to different women worldwide.
Evoking an East meets West sensibility and a contemporary point of view, Natori brings art into life.
The new Natori boutique is now open and is located at 2nd floor Ladies section Rustan’s Makati and in Rustan’s Shangri-La Mall. For more information, you may call Rustan’s Makati at 813-3739 or Rustan’s Shangri-La at 633-4636 or 50.
Congratulations Pepper! I wish you luck in your new venture! You make us married women want to get married all over again!

Poem written in the note of the father- composed b Troy Bernardo
y luz,
y verdad,
y donde puede vivir esa verdad.
Éste es su sueño.
También es el mío.
Porque ella es mi niña
Y nuestros corazones laten juntos.

The Dream of My Heart
Once in a little girl’s heart, a dream
Coming through the night,
opening up
in full blossom
as bright as the sun.
A dream where she falls in love with life
and the even grander dreams it has to offer.
Where she can stand up for what she believes in
and earn her place in the world.
Where she can be the best person she can be
and help others be the same,
rejoicing in the success of others
and being successful in her own terms,
using her own measure.
Where she is free to love and be loved.
Where she can be love,
be light,
and be her truth,
live her truth.
That is her dream.
It is mine.
For she is my little girl.
And her heart beats with mine.

MI SuEñO: A vision of every bride’s dream
The Philippines’ First Bridal Boutique Introduces
Ready-to-Wear European Designer Gowns
MAKATI CITY, PHILIPPINES – Mi Sueño Bridal Boutique, the country’s first, revolutionizes a new way of dressing the modern Filipino bride. By introducing ready-to-wear bridal fashion, it offers brides an unprecedented benefit: CERTAINTY. Combined with owner Pepper Periquet-Guanio’s unique setting and highly personalized service, Mi Sueño (‘my dream,’ in Spanish) is poised to attract brides who want to leave nothing to chance for their big day.
Brides and their gowns are the focal point of any wedding, and Mi Sueño was conceived to help brides guarantee perfection. Pepper Periquet-Guanio, a bride-to-be in 2006, had the opportunity to visit bridal boutiques in the United States and try on gowns from different designers and labels. “It was a fun and stress-free experience and I felt that the global trend of buying a ready-to-wear gown is an option that should be available to all Filipino brides,” she explains.
The boutique features an exclusive array of wedding gowns from leading European bridal houses in its private penthouse showroom. The imported gowns come in every cut and style imaginable to match each bride’s unique shape, personal style and preference. Details are impeccable, and fabrics are luxurious: Alecon lace, Mikado silk, Morbido tulle, Roman organza, Torino taffeta, and Sofia silk chiffon.
“There is a gown for every bride at Mi Sueño,” says Pepper. With intimate first-hand knowledge of the bride’s journey, Pepper gives each bride her personal attention, equally excited to find “the gown”
Custom-made vs. Ready-made
See, touch, and fit. That’s the advantage that ready-made has over custom-made gowns. Custom-made designs leave brides anxious, crossing their fingers that their gown will turn out as imagined. When it doesn’t, it’s too late to start over.
Mi Sueño gives brides the chance to try on various styles and silhouettes to discover the perfect fit for their figure and personality. “What you see is what you get – there is no second-guessing at Mi Sueño,” shares Pepper. “A bride has the advantage of ensuring how she will look on her big day, giving her a sense of confidence and allowing her to channel her energies to the other details involved in wedding planning.”
Ready-to-wear gowns have gained their popularity around the world because they leverage on ‘balanced proportions.’ These proportions produce visually pleasing and physically flattering silhouettes that work for a woman’s body and helps conceal natural albeit imperfect proportions. With the help of Pepper and her team, a bride’s measurements are taken and plotted against a chart to make sure the right size (from U.S. size 2 to 28) is ordered and the gown is especially made for the bride.
“Buying a ready-to-wear gown is a new concept in the country, but I believe the value of our gowns lies in the creativity of design, the quality of the materials, and workmanship,” says Pepper.
Launch Collection
Mi Sueño officially launches its concept boutique with a premier collection by Pronovias, the world’s leading bridal house and pioneer of bridal prêt-a-porter fashion. The Spanish brand is present in 75 countries around the world, and has featured collections from the likes of Valentino, Elie Saab, and Manuel Mota.
Pronovias gowns are crafted in Barcelona, Spain, and each collection is designed to appeal to classic and modern brides alike. Personalities that have donned Pronovias bridal gowns include American Idol’s Katherine McPhee, Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster, and Victoria Secret’s Doutzen Kroes.
Mi Sueño will also carry Atelier Diagonal, another label from the Pronovias Fashion Group, by first quarter 2012, expanding its collection for brides on slimmer budgets. Pronovias bridal gowns range from P65,000 – P185,000, while Atelier Diagonal gowns range from P40,000 – P70,000.
Mi Sueño allows viewing and fitting by appointment only, to ensure that the experience is personal and fun for each bride, her family, and friends. This also enables the Mi Sueño team to give each bride undivided attention, as the bride discovers which gown is her dream come true.
